4. Some students who scored poorly on the Science test need to get tests signed by their parents.

On that note, I am very frustrated that some students are not turning in assignments (homework/classwork). After I ask students multiple times, I will just put a 0 in the grade book. Please note when progress reports go home, some students have zeros because nothing was turned in after a week of me asking for assignments. Thanks.

Field Trip Information. Students were given forms yesterday. Please fill the form out and return as soon as possible. If you need another form, please let any 5th grade teacher know. 

Dear Parents,

                The Fifth grade will be going on a field trip on December 11 to Charles B. Aycock Birthplace.  Students will be touring the property, seeing cooking demonstrations and making a craft to take home as a souvenir. The cost will be $5.00 per student and is due no later than December 5.  Cash is preferred and is nonrefundable.    We will be leaving school at 8:30AM and will return by 1:45PM. We are asking that all students bring a lunch from home to take with them on the field trip.  We will be eating lunch onsite at the picnic area.  Students may NOT bring electronic devices such as IPods and MP3s.  We are not responsible for any lost items brought by the students.  Students will need to dress for indoor/outdoor cool weather and follow the Neuse Charter dress code policy.  We will need parent drivers to help us with transportation to and from the home site.  If you are able to chaperone and help transport students on the field trip, please indicate below how many passengers you would be able to seat in your vehicle.  Due to limited space, siblings will not be allowed to attend this event.

American Revolution Project

Purpose: Students will be analyzing and researching why colonists resisted British policies before and after 1775. They will also have an opportunity to focus on important battles, people and/or other events of the American Revolution for further class discussion. Students should also be able to discuss how these battles, people and/or events had an impact on the final outcome of the Revolutionary war.

Directions:

1. Begin by choosing one of the major events, battles or people listed on the last page.

2. After researching your topic, type out a three page report that describes your topic. You must include the following things in your report to receive full credit:

If you have chosen a battle please answer the following questions in your report:

Ø  What is the name of your chosen battle?

Ø  Where and when did the battle take place?

Ø  Who are the major figures in the battle?

Ø  What side is each figure fighting for?
