No school Monday!!! I hope everyone has a great long weekend.

American Revolution Project
Purpose: Students will be analyzing and researching why colonists resisted British policies before and after 1775. They will also have an opportunity to focus on important battles, people and/or other events of the American Revolution for further class discussion. Students should also be able to discuss how these battles, people and/or events had an impact on the final outcome of the Revolutionary war.
Directions:
1. Begin by choosing one of the major events, battles or people listed on the last page.
2. After researching your topic, type out a three page report that describes your topic. You must include the following things in your report to receive full credit:
If you have chosen a battle please answer the following questions in your report:
Ø  What is the name of your chosen battle?
Ø  Where and when did the battle take place?
Ø  Who are the major figures in the battle?
Ø  What side is each figure fighting for?
Ø  Were there any important battle strategies used and/or developed that would be notable in your report? If so, what are they?
Ø  What was the final outcome of the battle?
Ø  Was this battle a significant one in determining the outcome of the war? Please explain your answer.
If you have chosen a person please answer the following questions in your report:
Ø  Who is the person that you have chosen to research?
Ø  When and where was this person born?
Ø  What are some of the important accomplishments of this person?
Ø  How is this person important to the American Revolution?
Ø  What side of the war did they favor and why?
Ø  Where there any particular events or actions of this person that are notable and
Ø  relevant or the Revolution? These should be mentioned in your report.
Ø  What happens to this person after the American Revolution is over?
If you have chosen to do a particular event:
Ø  What event have you chosen to research?
Ø  List specific details of this event and its impact on the Revolution.
Ø  Do not forget to include specific people, dates, and locations when doing the report.
Ø  Describe the impact this event had on the American Revolution, either before or after the Revolution ended.

 For your state research project, research the following information for your chosen state. You may choose one of the original 13 colonies as your state. You may not choose North Carolina! To ensure that you receive all 50 points for your research, be sure to include the following things in your report:
Official State Symbols (5 pts.)
Population and race/ethnicity demographics (5 pts.)
 Major industries or crops of this state (5 pts.)
Date of statehood (5 pts.)
Nickname (5 pts.)
 Region (5 pts.)
Governor as of 2012 (5 pts.)
Natural resources (5 pts.)
Places of interest and celebrities from that state. (7 pts.)
References (3 pts.)

Total:          /50 pts
The report should be 2 pages typed or neatly hand written. Students are required to have an introduction and conclusion paragraph in the report. The due date is: ________________
